Description: Changing the cell background in a writer table in the iOS is possible but requires quite many steps. In the light of #82504 it would be nice to have this feature in the iOS app too. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create/open a writer document in the iOS app 2. Add a table 3. Change the backgroud color of one or more cells Actual Results: There is no button in the menu bar to change the background color of the cell. A user needs to navigate through the menu: Table > Properties > Background Expected Results: Maybe the button to change the paragraph color could be used to change the background of the cell, see #82504. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:
Moving to NEW as agreed in the ESC meeting
Unfortunately it is not as easy as adding the button, because there is no good place to add the button in the Online :-( The ideal place would be a new "Table" content panel in the "Properties" deck in the sidebar which would appear only when the user enters a table. This deck could contain even other table-related functionality, like adding / removing rows and columns etc. How does that sound?
I would love the solution of having an additional "properties" deck (it's what I had in mind too). The following functions could be part of that deck: * cell background * border line (type, width, color) * merge cells / split cells * insert/add columnt/row The "tabbed toolbar" in desktop LibreOffice has a good selection of functions a user "expects". Thanks for looking into this, please let me know if I can help with more feedback.
@Jan Holesovsky, does Nicolas' proposal work for you ?
With Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 and LO 6.2 I just put the "Background Colour" icon on the "Formatting Menubar". Then I could change the colour of the background in a table cell with one click (to the previously used colour). I have recently updated to Ubuntu Budgie 19.10Beta with LO 6.3. Table cell background doesn't change, it highlights the line of text instead. So it looks to me as though there was an easy way to do what is requested in this enhancement, but that it no longer works! This may work differently in iOS of course, but perhaps there is some confusion which needs resolving anyway.
