Description Oliver Grimm 2019-05-27 12:24:22 UTC
Description:
Unfortunately it is not possible to select a dotx (MS Word) template as standard template in Writer.

Opening and using dotx templates in general works fine here. Just one cannot set them as standard template.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. from main menu select file | templates | managege templates
2. click "import"
3. select a category in the dialog window
4. in the fil chooser dialog first select "fil etype: all files"
5. pick a dotx (Word template) with the file chooser
6. click "open"
7. the dotx template will appear in the templates' list
8. right click the dotx template and select "set as standard" from the context menu

Actual Results:
no effect; the standard template remains the previous one.

Expected Results:
Expected behaviour is that setting a dotx template should work the same way as using an ott template. At least there should be an error messge, if using a dotx template as standard is not possible

Reproducible: Always

still a bug in LO 6.3.3.2

why should this work? docx files will be imported and than used. I would suggest to open the docx file and save it as ott (writer template file). This file you can use than as default template.

well, it should work because it is technically already working to use an dotx template for a single case. Just the UI does not allow it to make it standard :-)

1) If it is not working BY PURPOSE currently, that I do not understand why.

2) If it is not working accidentally currently, than it should be easy to fix (only UI).

Why is 2) not a bug?
Please remember that the UI allows to select a dotx as standard, it just does not follow through on it.

Please reconsider and change this bug back to NEW.
