Description Christian Lehmann 2019-06-27 07:45:14 UTC
Description:
Enhancement: Editing a record in the Form view is impossible (and has been so since the first versions of LO Base) as long as the 'Record Search' dialog window is open. Instead, editing should be possible in this situation.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a form open in LO Base.
2. Hit the "Find Record" icon.
3. In the "Record Search" dialog window, enter some text to be found in more than one record.
4. Hit "Search".

Actual Results:
A record is displayed. However, it cannot be edited as long as the "Record Search" window is open. So to edit the record, I have to close the dialog window. To continue the search, I have to open it again. And I have to enter again the text I had been searching. This is an utterly user-unfriendly interface design. Instead of improving it, since LO 6, the form is now grey to remind the user that he cannot edit it. Very helpful indeed.

Expected Results:
It should be possible to have both the "Record Search" window and the form window open and editable at the same time and to continue the search through the database after the currently found record.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The missing functionality here is the same provided in LO Writer: You open the 'Find & Replace' dialog window, search for something; once you found it, you leave the 'Find & Replace' window open while working on the find, then continue the search for the next find by clicking in the open 'Find & Replace' window.

So this is, once more, a case where there is no consistency across the components of an Office suite.
