Description Marco Sulla 2019-06-29 18:11:57 UTC
Description:
Hello, I use `sdkman` on *L*ubuntu and I installed `Java 11 Azul Zulufx`. The problem is there's no way from the interface to set the `sdkman` folder of the `jdk` as the `jre` to use.

This is a regression, since it works in version 6.0.7.3

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install SDKMAN
2. install a JDK with SDKMAN
3. open Libreoffice
4. Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Advanced
5. Click on add
6. point yo the directory where the JDK was installed (mine is /home/marco/.sdkman/candidates/java/8.0.212-zulu)
7. Click Ok

Actual Results:
JDK is not added

Expected Results:
JDK should be added, as in LibreOffice version 6.0.7.3

Reproducible: Always

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

Confirmed on MacOS 10.14, LO 6.3.3.2

64 bit JVM, 64 bit LO

Tested Amazon and AdoptOpenJDK versions of JDK 8 as available on SDKMan (8.0.222-amzn and 8.0.232.hs-adpt respectively).

I installed sdkman on Arch Linux https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/sdkman/

sdk install java

gives me

downloading java@11.0.7.hs-adpt...
installing java@11.0.7.hs-adpt...
Error: sdkman: installation failed

Please advise.

This has been an issue for several years and should not be closed.

I have several versions of java installed via sdkman. When I go to LibreOffice preferences and try to register any of them I get a message "the folder you specified does not contain a java runtime environment". I have an amazon sdk and two oracle sdk's installed. Running MacOS 13.0.1.

All of my other tools (VS Code, IntelliJ, gradle, groovy, etc) that rely on Java JDK's recognize the default JDK setup by sdkman. Only LibreOffice doesn't recognize it. This is NOT an issue with sdkman. It is an issue with LibreOffice being to opinionated and undocumented about what it's expecting.

Original report was for Linux. In comment 4 I asked for help on using sdkman, but got no advice.

https://sdkman.io/

Install from there. You'll have a hidden directory `.sdkman` that'll have your locally installed jdks.

Run `sdk install java 19.0.1-oracle` to install an oracle version. You'll see that in `.sdkman/candidates/java/19.0.1-oracle`.

For the record, I installed on Arch Linux from https://sdkman.io/ and was able to add 19.0.1-oracle to LibreOffice just fine. There was no Azul available.
