Description BogdanB 2019-07-25 19:17:37 UTC
Description:
When searching for something (Ctr+F) a search box is opening in the bottom. But the search box remain over there even we close the document and open a new document.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Ctr+F - Search bar is opening in the bottom
2. Close LibreOffice
3. Open LibreOffice
4. The Search bar is open, even I don't want to search for anything for hours.

Actual Results:
The Search bar is open, even I don't want to search for anything for hours.

Expected Results:
The Search bar is not there, the past search was an option I used, but not anymore.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Do not agree.

The 'Find' toolbar is state-full and recorded to user profile. Toggled on (with <Ctrl>+F) off with <Esc> or button action--or via the View -> Toolbars -> Find button action--and recorded to user profile just the same as any other toolbar.

If it were the 'Find & Replace' dialog (toggled on with <Ctrl>+H, and <Esc> to close) that would be an issue--but it is not.

This behavior as a toolbar is exactly correct. Close it if you are done with it, otherwise it remains enabled.

Usually the search bar is not treated as an ordinary toolbar. But no hard feeling from my side and fine with WFM.

One day I moved the search bar to the top, between other toolbars, and indeed is not ok to disapppear this search toolbar from there.

But when is in the middle of the screen could be annoying.

At work often I am searching for something, and the toolbar remains there, and 1-2 days after I notice I have so little space on screen and close this toolbar. It is not needed, but it is there for hours of work.

Hi Bogdan,

My practical advise would be to end the search with ESC.
That closes the search bar as fast as Ctr+F opens it.

The "ESC" command works only when search ends, but not after 2-3 minutes of using other cells.

Try this: search something. Insert some numbers into any cells. After that press ESC. Search bar doesn't dissapear.

No, it simply does not have focus.

Re-focus the Find toolbar (with <Ctrl>+F) to be able to dismiss (with <Esc>) at any time after use.

Some arguments against the special handling. So let's better keep the status quo.
