Description: Have a good day community. This bug appears in both Impress and Draw but I can't choose two components so I picked Draw. I want all my new shapes to resize to fit the text inside. In order to do this I changed the default style, in the "Text" tab, I turned on the checkbox "Resize shape to fit text". But every single new shape ignores this setting, all of them come with the "Resize shape to fit text" option turned OFF. The other options from the "Text" tab are respected, for example the checkbox "Word wrap text in shape", or the "Spacing to borders" numbers are respected by new shapes. What compelled me to file this bug is that a person in another country with a different OS has the same bug (he has Windows, I have Ubuntu). Here is the discussion that led me to post this bug: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/202722/resize-shape-to-fit-text-gets-unchecked-when-creating-new-shape/ Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Libreoffice Draw 2. Click the Styles button in the Sidebar 3. Right click the Default style 4. Click on Modify... 5. Click on the Text tab if it's not already selected 6. Turn on the checkbox "Resize shape to fit text" 7. Create a new shape, e.g. click the Flowchart button followed by a click in the "Flowchart: Process" shape 8. Draw the shape in the page by click and drag 9. Type a common word inside the shape, e.g. type "she" 10. Done, the shape does not follow the default setting of "Resize shape to fit text" Actual Results: The shape retains the original draw size instead of resizing to fit the text inside it. You can check the default setting to see that the "Resize shape to fit text" is still turned on, while the same setting inside the shape is turned off (you can check this by right click on the text inside the shape and then selecting Text... the option appears turned off even though the default is turned on) Expected Results: The shape should resize to fit the text inside, respecting the default style setting Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: This bug has been seen in two different machines, a bit of information about the machines is this: Machine1: OS Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.2.5.2 (x64). Machine2: OS Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, 64-bit processor Intel i5-4210U @ 1.70GHz * 4, 7,6GiB RAM. Libreoffice version 6.2.5.2 (latest release version)
Thank you for reporting the bug, I can reproduce the bug in Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: b6b28931435e44aca92b8c0e1659f701e3ed1a87 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: win; TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch:master, Time: 2019-01-30_06:57:04 Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded Whereas in version LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4 The option "Resize shape to fit text" is not active in the "Text" tab. The shape retains the original draw size instead of resizing to fit the text inside it. The same setting inside the shape is turned off and once turned on,the shape fits the text
I believe this is a duplicate of Bug 105441. Using the per-object "Format > Object and Shape > Text Attributes... > Text > Resize shape to fit text" works correctly, but using the option in the style does not work. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 105441 ***
