Description Tony Stone 2019-08-13 16:54:23 UTC
Would like the ability to open one of our construction prints that are always in PDF, draw a "Scale" line over a known dimension/length anywhere on the drawing. Then it "calibrates" the drawing for print with a scale line and for doing dimension lines in the drawing itself. Would also be nice to have it show the measurement in Feet-Inches on the dimension line text when drawing in a dimension(eg; 24'-7") or (24' 7-1/4). Also a feature i would be willing to pay a bounty for.

For a work around, at this point I am exporting as a PDF then using the FoxIt PDF reader as it has this exact functionality. Then I have to import it back into LO Draw, which loses a lot of formatting but I can at least draw dimensions now.

I noticed on Thursday I got an email and it says this report has changed. I don't know what it means where it says QA:needsComment

I would be happy to provide more info on my request but I don't know what else to provide....? And again, I know some OS projects have options for "bounties" for features and I would like to know if there is an option some place for that.

Hello Tony,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
So, if I understand you correctly, you want to open a PDF and draw scale lines on it?
You can use Dimensions lines for that. Am I missing something ?

I think you might be right. I was recently messing with the dimension lines. I guess my issue is this.

For example:
I open a 36x48 blueprint.
I have a line on the drawing that I know the blueprint is representing as a 6 foot line for example.
I would like to have a tool that lets me pick the ends of that line and tell LO Draw that that the scale of the drawing is however many actual inches on the drawing represents 6 foot. I am having a hard time explaining this but I hope this clears up what I am looking for.

Also the dimension lines only label with decimal format. So I am trying to use LO draw in the field doing construction. I really need to have the dimension label read out as feet-inch. With fractions would be great too. Maybe have options to have fractions rounded to on an 8th or 16th scale? Would be awesome IMO. So if I draw a dimension in a door way the dimension should read something like 6'- 3-1/4"

Hi Tony,
you can change the unit of measurement from Tools - Options - LibreOffice Draw - General.
