Sorry, I messed up the working version number:

6.0 works and opens the file without error
6.1 fails to open file and produces the reported error
6.3 fails with the same message

Did you check that Impress component is installed ?

Status set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested
informations are provided.

Best regards. JBF
Comment 5 timharig 2019-09-08 21:45:22 UTC
The Impress component is installed. It works well enough with other powerpoint files. The one I posted causes the error. Note that, as I have already stated, the shared library file that it is trying to load exists and that the permissions should allow it to be loaded.

Well, what am I supposed to do -- because it ain't working here. The shared library exists and Impress is not finding it.

no setting for opengl rendering

I am unable to find the opengl setting per the instructions
Comment 12 timharig 2019-09-24 15:37:55 UTC
My comment was somehow cut off. I did not find the option to disable opengl rendering as given in the wiki (screenshot attached). I did try to disable the hardware rendering option; but, I still get the same error when attempting to load the sample pptx.

Comment 15 timharig 2019-09-24 15:50:07 UTC
I have attached the results of:

result of ldd /opt/libreoffice6.3/program/libsdlo.so > ldd.txt

        libavahi-common.so.3 => not found
        libavahi-client.so.3 => not found

Why are these required to open a pptx?
