Description peter josvai 2019-09-24 06:34:01 UTC
Description:
since not so long ago this thing began,
.tmp files keep appearing in the current document's folder..

document: .ODT files

the [random-string].temp files can be opened through "open", and
I can find earlier versions of the current document...
(the random strings are not simply random)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. this is the difficult part...
2. yesterday I fixed it by adding a new temp dir in options/paths, yesterday it worked, today it doesn't... or rather, it works for one of the two documents in the same folder...
3.

Actual Results:
time and again, .tmp files start appearing in the current document's folder..

Expected Results:
I'd expect it to work normally :) (sorry, I just had to write something in this box in order to be allowed to submit the form)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Linux mint, 19
hard drive FREE space in home dir: 7Gb
free space in "file system": 10Gb
within the tmp folder file manager NEmo shows: 10Gb free space
config files location: home/.config/libreoffice

within that:
4
backup-new <-- this is where I'd like Libreoffice to store the backup files
// yes, clicking on the directory set in options/paths/Backups, it will open..., backup-new will open, but there's only one file in it... from august..

temp dir:
/tmp/libreoffice

within that, there are 3 files, all generated today...
one of them is the document which I'm currently working on, which is the only open document at this moment...

still,
there are 3 .tmp files in the current document's own folder...
being the saved copies of the same document which I'm working on :)

2 of the 3 .tmp files cannot be opened, "coprrupt", should liibreoffice attempt to fix it? yes.. --> result: blank file

file sizes: 0, 17, 46 kb... only the last one opened...
the copy of the current document I'm working on..

since last night, my computer had been restarted completely

USER PROFILE resetted, in safe mode, when entering safe mode, I checked
BOTH rebuild ... last working ... and rebuild something alst working state..

right now, tmp file is being generated where it is supposed to..
BUT even 10 minutes ago it was like that..
howerer, last night, 3 tmp files were created in the current document's folder..
which happened HOURS after I redefined temp folder and restarted Libreoffice and made sure it worked...

I know, it is too complicated..
I don't expect this to be solved anytime soon..

my intention with this report is mainly to let you know of this strange behavior..

I changed the status to needinfo, cause another strange behavior I had reported disappeared after resetting the user profile...

so, I'll keep observing the tmp files :)
and report back...
and change it to unconfirmed, or invalid

till then,

Peter
