Description: LibreOffice 6.3.2.2 major problems & difficulties on installation on Linux MINT Tina 19.2. Installation fails due to major dependency problems with multiple components. I was unable to resolve the missing dependencies & the installation failed completely. Had to revert to previous version 6.3.1 which was fine. **Major problems with 6.3.2.2 installation on W10 pro 1903. Bogged the system down badly & hung on a reboot. Had to revert back to 6.3.1 which was fine. Steps to Reproduce: 1.normal command line install on Linux MINT installs some components 25% 2.Next fails on dependencies, but offers no fixes 3.Multiple dependencies on multiple modules Actual Results: Install fails completely. Expected Results: the only viable option was to completely remove all the components of this version and revert back to previous version 6.3.1 Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: On Linux MINT the installer normally checks the database and dependencies. After which there are usually no dependencies issues & the modules install smoothly without any errors. I have 42 or 45 files in the whole install process. **I'm not a novice user & have installed LibreOffice many times from the Linux command line. I am very careful to download & install the precise 64bit .DEB files. And this is the first time I've come across this issue.
About Linux, either you want to deal yourself with dependencies or you let package maintainers do it and just use package from your distrib repo. On Debian (which Linux Mint derives from) testing, LO package is 6.3.2.1. About Windows, it's another story could you describe the pb?
A number of potential things could gum up the upgrade install on Windows, especially is you an instance of soffice.bin running with the QuickStart feature. I just now did an upgrade from 6.3.1.2 to 6.3.2.2 with no issues other than the now common notice to restart because system components needing to be updated were in use. None the less the update / restart goes smoothly. Not to say there is no issue, but we would need a verbose log of your installation (i.e. run rom a command windows as administrator with msiexec.exe, and capturing a log with a "/L*v logfileName.txt") to have a look. You probably also should have a look in the system event viewer while the install was running to see if there are any hints of the conflicts there. =-install-= Windows 10 Home 64-bit en-US (1903) with Version: 6.3.2.2 (x64) Build ID: 98b30e735bda24bc04ab42594c85f7fd8be07b9c CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
OP responded in PM: <clip> Further to your comments I have this morning upgraded my LibreOffice to 6.3.2.2 over 6.3.1 on my W10 workstation and the previous behaviour wasnt reapeted. I think the problem was with ZoneAlarm which I have uninstalled and it made a major difference to the overall system performance and the completed LO installation did Not hang on reboot & login. All went smoothly & the installed programs working fine now. Conclusion: Za was the culprit in combination with attempting to install LibreOffice 6.3.2.2. Removal of ZA fixed the issue on W10 **The installation problems I reported on Linux MINT remain a problem. </clip> Back to Linux only. But,as Julien notes, you'll have to resolve package dependencies yourself--or wait for the distribution to package them, or use a PPA--not sure one is running for the LTS 18 based MINT 19.2 that Tina delivers.
