Description: The 'points' measurement units means nothing for all users. Except some old print industry guys, points is completely unpractical. It should be the default units, either millimeters or inches, whatever is chosen at the options. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select some cells 2. Hit Ctrl-1 3. At the border tab attempt to set the border width to 0.5 mm. Those who don't figure out, to type 0.5 mm will fail even to calculate how many points is 0.5 mm. Moreover, after typing 0.5 mm, the input is changed back to points so it's unable to verify the actual value in millimeters. Actual Results: Borders measurement units is stuck at points. Expected Results: Display the border units in the chosen units (metric/inches) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:
Thank you for reporting the bug. In Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ ,I set the border width to 0.5mm. It does calculate how many points is 0.5mm( also tried various values) and displays it in points. If it still fails for you, add more informations about your system and LO version.
(In reply to raal from comment #2) > write for example 2mm and leave text box - calc correctly set 5,67 pt. > > please retest with current version of LO. Except some old print industry guys, points is completely unpractical. It should be the default units, either millimeters or inches, whatever is chosen at the options. LO converts mm to points - it's ok. But next time if I open the dialog and it shows 15,34 points, now how many millimeters is this? This is why points is unpractical. The text box should use practical units, not some cumbersome units.
I don't think this will be changed, see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72662#c19 for related discussion
