Include Font "Awesome" to LibreOffice. The symbols can be used in the text OR as bullet point, ... For example if you use an Font for bullets you can change the color, when you use an svg file (image) as bullet you can't change the color. license stuff https://fontawesome.com/license/free
Can't get too excited about it. Seems pretty limited coverage with conflicting 'Pro' distributions that would break any LO distributed version. Would rather see us fully implement support for OTF COLR/CPAL tables (bug 104403), and OTF SVG tables (bug 105488), or OTF CBDT/SBIX tables (bug 121327) and fully implement use of the color EmojiOne font we already deply. And of course in addition to flexibly handling color, there is OTF Variable Font to consider for layout and printing/export (bug 103596, bug 108497); would rather get some of that implementation worked out and only then consider what additional fonts are appropriate to bundle. @Tomaz are we still thinking of 'colorizing' SVG icons/glyphs in response to os/DE theme settings, and for better HiDPI use?
There are many great fonts with open source license and we cannot ship all. I would focus on one (or at least a very limited number). Even better when we do not ship any font - it's up to the OS to manage this. OTOH, it would be a great extension when clicking a button next to font installs this.
Thanks for the reply. It would be good to have at least ONE Symbol font that is available at all plateforms. OpenSymbol has not to many symbols, Wingdings is not available on linux, ... If there are many great fonts with open source license and symbol support available I vote for find the best one and hip it together with LO.
No further opinion, so let's resolve as WF because of out-of-scope and limited use.
BTW. Can't we take a SVG's of this font (the license is CC-BY) and add them to the gallery, then release as an extension?
Good point, but how can I use an gallery for bullets?
I make an extension
That's a great idea.
As far a _Font Awesome_ extension goes: i) State which version of _Font Awesome_ is included; ii) State which licensing arrangement for _Font Awesome_ is used; in both the extension description, and in the license files that are dropped into the folder used by the fonts, icons, and other goodies the package includes. ### As far as additional symbol fonts go, Noto Symbol, Noto Symbol2, and Noto Emoji cover the Unicode defined glyphs, are cross-platform, and distributed under the SIL Open Source License.
