Description: I am testing the Version Management tool of LibreOffice Writer (LO version 6.0.3.7) and when comparing the latest version to previous ones, the deletions are not displayed at the right place in the document but seem to be displayed at the end only. Steps to Reproduce: 1. While editing a document, click the menu 'File > Versions...' and then 'Save New Version' 2. Delete something somewhere before the end of the document 3. Repeat step 1. 4. Compare the latest version with the previous version containing the deleted part ('File > Versions...' then select the version created at step 1 and click 'Compare' Actual Results: The deleted part is displayed at the end of the document in the Track Changes mode. Expected Results: The deleted part should display at the position where it was in the document before the deletion. Reproducible: Didn't try User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Please, see the attached 'Version management.odt' document containing a test example.

Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Yes, I installed LO 6.3.2.2 from the PPA and I can reproduce the bug. Here attached is another test file.

First, thank you all for your replies. I notice that IM cannot reproduce the bug with his/her version of LO 6.3.2.2. That is strange that I can reproduce the bug on my machine with an LO 6.3.2.2. Here are the details of my version: Version: 6.3.2.2 Build ID: 1:6.3.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~lo1 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded Could it be that the bug is in an external component that LO depends on, and that would not be up-to-date in my distribution?

Confirm with Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 9b5dad13b56bdde7c40970351af3da3a2c3c9350 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; works in Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 2851ce5afd0f37764cbbc2c2a9a63c7adc844311
Bibisected with Linux 43all repo to range https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+log/14c4c26cea838b3fffb0b17ba440c29a6066fad1..32b61ed8931acd97e488bc73486244c385a3a974 I strongly suspect the cause is this as it sounds like the only relevant one: https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/706cac767c90281b74fbc27a134b022d27e2ce21%5E%21/ fdo#43424: Comparing empty document with attached one crashes LO This report is unfortunately lacking steps, so I will write them down: 1. Open attachment 155006 [details] 2. File - Versions 3. Save new version, Close 4. Delete "Third line" 5. Repeat steps 2 and 3, Compare Bad result: at the end of the document we see "Second line" with strikethrough.
Dear Alex, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
