Description:
Wanted to compare two documents.
Went looking for “compare documents” which used to be a menu option. Could not find it. Used “Help”.
The search terms: “comparisons;document versions” resulted in this explanation:
“Comparing Versions of a Document”

1. Open the reviewer's document and then choose Edit - Compare Document.
End Snip…
There is no such option in the Edit menu…
The actual menu item is now: “Track Changes”  with “compare document...”

Steps to Reproduce:
Wanted to compare two documents.
Went looking for “compare documents” which used to be a menu option. Could not find it. Used “Help”.

Found no "Compare Document" menu item under "Edit"

5.1.6 is quite old.
Last LO versions are 6.2.8 or brand new 6.3.2.

You can also upgrade Mint, last one is 19.2 (Tina)

Please try to use Help with new version LO. 
While some old help pages really still have Edit - Compare, new help should be fine: https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/en-US/text/shared/guide/redlining_doccompare.html
