When I paste a bitmap image from an external software like gimp then I can crop it in Writer. I like it. However, if I paste a vector-based drawing from Draw then I cannot crop it. It would be nice to have such a feature because the only thing I can do now is to paste a pixelized version of the drawing which looks ugly and/or uses a lot of resources.
Thank you for reporting the bug. Please attach a sample document, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug. (Please note that the attachment will be public, remove any sensitive information before attaching it. See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FAQ#How_can_I_eliminate_confidential_data_from_a_sample_document.3F for help on how to do so.) I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested document is provided.
Created attachment 155852 [details] vectorial image cannot be cropped This document has two images side by side. The left one has been pasted from LibreOffice Draw, the right one from Gimp. The vectorial image from Draw cannot be cropped. (Converting to bitmap is not a solution.) In the lower part of the diagram I added two screenshot images to show the content of the local menu (right-click menu) of each image.
As per the above request of @Xisco Faulí, I change the status to unconfirmed.
I don't know how vector drawings can be cropped. I guess LO doesn't have it anywhere. So I remove "writer" from the title.
(In reply to Timur from comment #4) > I don't know how vector drawings can be cropped. I guess LO doesn't have it > anywhere. So I remove "writer" from the title. Please, put the word "Writer" back, this is the purpose of the ticket. I want to crop the vectorial image I pasted into _Writer_. This is a feature request. Thanks.
I think it specific, for object from LibreOffice draw, because if we mention "vectorial" it should happen on SVG file also. But, for SVG file, we can crop it like other images.
(In reply to Rania Amina from comment #6) > I think it specific, for object from LibreOffice draw, because if we mention > "vectorial" it should happen on SVG file also. But, for SVG file, we can > crop it like other images. This is true. If you copy an image from InkScape via the clipboard then you get a pixel-based image (thus obviously can crop it) but if you save the SVG from InkScape and use Insert -> Image to put it into the LO Writer then you get a vectorial image and still can be cropped. So, I am re-phrasing the original title to: "Vectorial drawings pasted from LO Draw should be able to be cropped"
OK, let's confirm as an enhancement that may have it's usage.
