Description Roeland 2019-12-04 20:36:55 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice offers a few new appearance modes/user interfaces, Which can be accessed via the menu.

At the moment there are 5 different options to choose from. it is quite difficult for a regular user to know which mode would suit him/her best.

It would be nice to have some kind of explanation rightly available so that the user understand the goal of each mode.

I included a screenshot of another office suite which offers this information to its users, which makes it easy to chose if this style is something he/she would like to use

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open writer
2. Go to view, user interface
3. Check out the different modes

Actual Results:
Yiu nee to click the modes to see what actually changes

Expected Results:
A pop-up gives you information on what to expect by switching to a different mode

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Yes, that looks fancy. But tooltips and in particular these rich tips are rather unexpected on menu items. We have a guideline for the Notebookbars including what it aims for [1] and the help [2]. I would rather stick to this information.
