Description: I use "Paste Format" quite extensively when using spreadsheets and believe it would be valuable to add that keyboard shortcut possibility in the "Tools\Customize\Keyboard" Menu. (unless "Paste Format" is there under another designation that I haven't seen) I know it is possible to open the "Paste Special" Menu to achieve this, but there are extra clicks that are needed and this kind of defeats the purpose of Keyboard Shortcuts a bit. Cheers! There is the 'Paintbrush' icon to do it. https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/en-US/text/shared/guide/paintbrush.html?DbPAR=SHARED#bm_id380260
Agreed, however, it does not have quite the same functionality as I was trying to describe. When using the Paintbrush, as soon as the mouse button is released, the paintbrush function is "disbanded" and you must click the clone icone every time you want to clone formatting. There is the "Double Click" on the Paintbrush icon to clone multiple non-adjacent cells. I have not found a shortcut key that duplicates this function though. The advantage with the "Paste Special"\"Paste Format" function, is the system keeps in memory the last cell(s) that were copied. You can then perform other functions in between (with the exception of copying) and re-execute the "Paste Special"\"Paste Format" function, and you then paste the format of the last copied cell(s). ➔ A one key command to paste the last "Format" copied to memory. I use this function quite a bit in Google Sheets (Ctrl + Alt + v). Cheers!
You can assign a shortcut yourself (Tools > Customize: Keyboard, Clone, Alt+K, Modify). Use then alt+k + click to copy the formatting. Is that enough? I don't see an option to customize the sticky mode on double-click (and wouldn't enhance that further) or how to execute the paste operation without left-click. Meaning we would have to introduce a "Copy Formatting" (or rather Copy Special) and a "Paste Format" command. That turns all the logic with Paste Special and Clone Formatting upside down.
If the LibreOffice community decides it's not a valuable function to have, then that's that. Personally, I believe it's very valuable. When I use Google Sheets, whenever I edit a document, it's rare that I don't use this function. "Clone tool" and "Double Click Clone tool" do not offer the same effectiveness. I'm not a coder, and I don't know what modifications for LibreOffice this entails. It's very easy for me to make suggestions. I know it is another thing to do the work. Cheers!
Another solution, since the request is just about Calc, is to use the Paste Special dialog (shift+ctrl+v). So unless someone has a different view I would resolve the request as WFM.
