Created attachment 156649 [details] dialog While translating tip-of the day strings I stopped in the following tip: /cui/inc/tipoftheday.hrc: ... To repeat a table heading when a table spans over a page, use Table > Table Properties > Text Flow > Repeat heading. ... The table properties dialog defines the first "n" lines as "heading" in the dialog (Image attached) sw/uiconfig/swriter/ui/tabletextflowpage.ui Most of the other languages understand the first n lines as the table header. Should it be header instead of heading?
The dialog says "Repeat heading - The first <1> rows". To my knowledge there is no special flag for a header. At least styles know just even/odd, first/last row/column. If we change this to "Table Header" it has to be on all places. Regarding translation it would be the same term in German.
We talked in the design meeting about heading vs header. And regarding the table it's more like a "heading" in terms of a chapter title than a "header" that usually comes on top of a page. So the current terms are WFM (native speaker are welcome to reopen the issue).
As a native speaker, I agree that "heading" seems more appropriate than "header" for the title of a table.
@Olivier: Native speaker's vote is always of high relevance. Please weight Cathy's comment with what we considered in the meeting and reopen if you want.
So we keep As is. Thanks Cathy.!
