Description locrash 2019-12-26 07:11:44 UTC
Description:
This is not strictly a "here are the steps to reproduce it happens every time" because it doesn't always happen but it happens enough - hourly, daily, weekly to drive me away from using the program entirely

It may be related to this bug: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99623 as it seems the symptoms are similar but the difference is that I and others in that thread are not using "CLCL" but still have the same symptoms.

LibreOffice Calc Freezes and becomes unresponsive after a Copy/Paste related operation.

Previous version of LO it was isolated to only when i was editing the contents of an existing cell ( double clicking a cell and modifying the formula in the formula text bar.) If i tried to copy something from that formula and repaste it while editing another cells formula in the formula bar the whole program would freeze and would never recover requiring a task manager shut down.

Steps I've tried:
- Upgrade LO to latest (6.3) version - This actually seemed to make things worse. Prior to 6.3 crashing was fairly predictable when a specific copy/paste action was done. After 6.3 it seems any C/P operation could trigger the fault randomly.
- Update Java Runtime Environment (Was 11, Now 13)
- Turn off AntiAliasing
- Turn On Backup of Data
- Decrease interval for AutoRecovery of data (Since it seemed to be crashing faster than it was saving recovery files even though the /backup folder is filled with 0KB junk files)

As stated, now it is freezing/hanging up much more regularly and any Copy/Paste related action seems to be able to trigger it even just copying cells to move to a new column or even just to paste the format over.

Things to note:
LO is not completely dead. I can continue opening new instances of LO and it will process them. They will simply also be frozen / not responsive once open. So LO is able to work in the back but as the user I can not interact with any of the windows.
If I try to take a screenshot of the LO window when it is the active window, the system will not capture the screenshot. Other active windows have no issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Copy
2. Paste
3. Freeze

Actual Results:
The entire Libre Office became unresponsive

Expected Results:
Pasted the data without issue and remained responsive

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
One final thing to note is that these are very small files with no scripting and in fact virtually no formulas. I also experience the issue on big files with lots of formulas but right now the most recent freeze was using a 3000 KB file with a .xls compatibility extension with zero formulas in the active sheet only plaintext entered manually with some colored formatting. A second file .ods with a single sheet was also opened at the time in a separate window of size 19KB and zero total formulas, all plaintext and colored formatting.

Serious issue but already reported before and closed without steps.

Prior to 6.3 crashing was fairly predictable when a specific copy/paste action was done. Which one?

After 6.3 it seems any C/P operation could trigger the fault randomly. A freeze/ unresponsiveness you mean?

Do you have an example document?

Unfortunately, without steps it can only be closed as Insufficient data.
