Description Brucelgrubb 2019-12-27 08:13:46 UTC
Description:
LIbreOffice ignores some of the paragraph formatting of .doc and some RTF files on a Mac.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.View RTF file in TextEdit (.doc in Pages) to confirm formating
2.Open RTF or .doc file in LibreOffice
3.Note that some paragraph breaks are missing

Actual Results:
Many clear paragraph breaks are ignored resulting in a wall of text.

Expected Results:
Paragraph format to be retained

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The work around is easy but requires the use of the Pages program.

1)Open RTF or .doc file in Pages
2)Export as a .docx file
3)Open .docx file in LibreOffice

Important note: saving the file as RTF from LibreOffice results in a much larger file (5.1 MB vs 1.6 MB for the file I am using) but the formatting is retained if opened back up in LibreOffice. However, the two RTF files look Identical in TextEdit.

@Bruce :ideally, we'd need a sample RTF file showing the behaviour so that we can test. As you may know, the various implementations of RTF over the ages are not standardised...so what you see in Apple Text Edit might not be the same when read/written by other software.

Setting NEEDINFO pending test RTF file.
