Description: In English texts that I am writing, I often quote non-English words, many of which include a diacritic. I therefore use "Insert - Special Character" often. Say I need the special character รก in each of five Spanish words that I have quoted. If I highlight that character after clicking Insert - Special character, I am allowed to paste it just once, so that I have to return to Special character four more times to get that character for the other four words that need it. There is a workaround: I can paste the character once in my file, copy it from the text of my file, and then paste it as many times as I need it, but it would be easier if you allowed the character to be re-pastable without the need to return to Insert - Special Character. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Given above 2. 3. Actual Results: The special character is not repastable unless I return to Insert - Special character Expected Results: Explained above Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:
so you are asking to keep the symbol chooser window open and not close it automatically on clicking the "insert" button? is that correct? If not, can you please describe your exact proposal?
btw: double clicking a symbol also doesn't close the window. You can insert a symbol infinite times by double clicking it. Maybe this is another workaround for you.
(In reply to D. Gold from comment #0) > Actual Results: > The special character is not repastable unless I return to Insert - Special > character The is by design. The Special Character split button provides a dialog with a set of 15 preloaded 'Favorites' (but modifiable in profile) and 15 'Recent' recently picked characters (also recorded to profile). This split button facilitates multiple pastings (from favorites and or recents). Using the full Special Character dialog, you can add and remove characters from your list of favorites, including recently picked characters. UX-design review deemed this sufficient.
