Description Babbles 2019-12-29 18:59:15 UTC
Description:
Until now, in a Japanese environment, there was a problem that Japanese input was not possible with a smartphone.
LOKit ver. 6.2-2, Loolwsd ver. 4.2.2. When I updated to this version, the Japanese input problem was reversed. I became able to input Japanese on a smartphone, but I could not input Japanese on a desktop PC(Mac/Windows10). Particularly problematic is "Writer".

Japanese input consists of two words, vowels and consonants. The latest version ignores consonant input.

I have tried multiple web browsers and multiple IMEs on both Mac and Windows. I can't type Japanese properly at all.

This is a fatal problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer by Desktop PC's web browsers.
2. Input Japanese.
3. Register characters from conversion candidates.

Actual Results:
Japanese input:
"KonNiChiWa" (The meaning in English is HELLO)

Expected Results:
Recognized characters:
"kncw"

That is, only vowels are recognized.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

I captured a video of the PC screen.
https://od.lk/s/M18yMDY4MDM0NDNf/officewriterjapanese.mov

I entered the following in the video:
line1: konnitiwa
line2: watashihanihongonyuuryokudekinai.

Actually, it is registered as follows:
line1: こんにちわ
line2: 私は日本語入力できない。

Vowel have been ignored. Only consonants are registered.
line1: KoNNiTiWa
line2: WaTaShiHaNiHonGoGNYuRYoKuDeKiNaI.

The uppercase letters are recognized and entered. This does not seem to be affected by input speed. I do not change whether I type slowly or intentionally.
In the video, Line2 is suddenly shortened at the end. It disappeared when I converted the characters to Kanji and confirmed.

IME conversion candidate window could not be captured.
In fact, when I'm typing characters, a window is displayed that shows suggestions for the characters to type.

The same goes for switching IME to a third party IME.

Please watch the video input in Japanese using MS-IME.

This was unresolved in collaboraofficebasis6.2-writer.x86_64 0: 6.2.10.3-3.

Thank you for the detailed reproduction steps, there was a recent fix affecting various input methods (bug 130382), and now typing based on the description works for me as expected. I'm marking this bug as duplicate.

The fix can be tested in the daily snapshots (4.2-snapshot tag at https://hub.docker.com/r/collabora/code/ ) or in the next CODE release.
