Description Gary G. Martin 2020-02-03 15:51:33 UTC
Description:
I am a low vision person. I need to use a program called ZoomText to be able to use a computer. Every low vision person in the world uses the famous ZoomText program. This program has: text to speech; magnifier; and mouse pointer cross hairs; etc.. When I attempt to use Libre Office for any type of document, at the same time I am using ZoomText, most of the time Libre Office completely crashes. Libre Office will usually succeed in recovering my lost file, but not always. Therefore I cannot use Libre Office with ZoomText running. I cannot use Libre Office without a helper . Thank you for helping me. I already contacted ZoomText and they told me they will never work on LibreOffice problems because they only support MS Office.

Actual Results:
If I have ZoomText running I cannot use LibreOffice

Expected Results:
crashed

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
allowed me to create, edit, and save all types of documents

On which env are you? (Linux, Windows, MacOs) ?
Do you reproduce this with LO 6.3.4?
Comment 2 V Stuart Foote 2020-02-04 01:31:08 UTC
Windows and macOS.

And would lean toward Not Our Bug

"Freedom Scientific" support can do the workup and submit a BZ issue to LO.

Seems reasonable user support for this pricey proprietary software they gouge folks for.

You could try getting a backtrace of the crash:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#Windows
Download the build Win-x86@39 from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html
It contains the debug information needed to create a useful backtrace.

This is assuming you use Windows. In case of macOS:

Comment 4 Julien Nabet 2020-05-02 21:10:01 UTC
Gary: the pb here is only those who have ZoomText can provide extra information.
Without this, it'll be difficult to help.

2 things you can try before trying to retrieve a backtrace.
First, upgrade to 6.4.3 + follow instructions from https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps
It might help.

V Stuart: just in case, would you know some people who would have ZoomText to give it a try? (reproduce the bug and if it's the case, retrieve a bt)

@Julien, I'll check, I think our disabilities services purchases seats of the Freedom Scientific Assistive Technology programs--JAWS for sure, will find out if I can check out a ZoomText seat. -- Stuart
