Description Stephane Santon 2020-02-07 08:55:37 UTC
Description:
When you create a 2 column section, insert a heading as first paragraph inside, insert a column break and finally insert the same level heading at top of the second column, the heading are not horizontally aligned.
The column break seems to duplicate the 'before paragraph' spacing (only with heading styles, not text body styles)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new text document
2. Insert a line of text
3. Insert a 2 columns new section
4. Insert 'Left column heading' text in this section and apply 'Heading 1' style
5. Check (or define) 'heading 1' style with a 'before paragraph' spacing of more than 0, p.e. 0.3 cm.
6. Insert a bit of text
7. Insert manual column break: Insert > More Breaks > Insert Column Break
8. Insert 'Right column heading' text in this column and apply 'Heading 1' style
9. Insert a bit of text

Actual Results:
You can see that the 'Left Column title' and 'Right column title' texts are not horizontally aligned at top of the section.
There is a vertical offset of the heading in the second column after the column break.

Expected Results:
The 2 headings at tops of the 2 columns should be horizontally aligned

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The offset value is the 'before paragraph' spacing of 'Heading x' style.
So the 'before paragraph' spacing seems to be applied twice, as if it would be applied :
- to the heading AND its parent,
- or to the heading AND to the 'column break' element before.

Behavior not only on headings at top of columns, but on all paragraph styles having spacing before.

OK, it's a duplicate.

I searched in
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/buglist.cgi?component=Writer&list_id=1081977&order=Importance&product=LibreOffice&query_format=advanced&resolution=---&short_desc=column%20break&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr

and i didn't find it.

The issue is only with column break.

Please change 50068 bug title from :

"Incorrect spacing above paragraph on second column of section"
to
"Incorrect spacing above paragraph on second column of section after column break"

Best regards
