Created attachment 157742 [details] Two-slide .odp presentation When running a presentation from the beginning with F5, a video in a subsequent slide shows as a black rectangle (sound is OK). If the presentation is started from the slide containing the video with Shift+F5, the video is shown correctly. This was first raised by another user back in June 2019 in the Ask LibreOffice forum entitled "All videos play as black". The problem is still there in the latest release (6.4.0.3). I have put together a simple two slide presentation which shows the problem, and which I will try to upload if it's not too big.
I con nor confirm with Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: d41d7ecb60fb38204fafcb1aa4595992721855e6 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Is that "can not"? You may need to repeat several times before you hit the problem. With respect, testing with 7.0.0.0 on Linux doesn't indicate that there has been a fix since 6.4.0.3 running on Windows 10. I am not the only one who has had the problem if you check out the post "All videos play as black" on the Ask LibreOffice forum. I would like to see someone confirm that two people are not making this up by running the test presentation with 6.4.0.3 on Windows 10, and if it works the first time (which is possible), trying it again. It may well be something to do with Windows 10, but if so, I think Impress needs to be fixed to be compatible with that OS.
I also CANNOT reproduce this bug here with LO 6.4.1, Linux, Debian testing, VCL: kf5.
Actually, although someone else has had this same problem, it only happens on my PC, whereas on my laptop running exactly the same version of Windows 10 and LibreOffice. The only explanation is that there is a problem with the video card, which on my PC is nVidia GTX 650 Ti.

That should have said that on my laptop it is ok.
Does this have an effect: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use OpenGL for all rendering ? For further testing, you could install a master build (in parallel) and try Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use Skia: https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html
Info requested: Tested on 3 computers, all running on Windows 10. New desktop computer with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060: LibreOffice 6.4.3.2 With OpenGL - displays still frame while video is running (sound normal) Without OpenGL - displays black rectangle LibreOffice master build (7.0) with Skia: works perfectly Previous desktop computer with NVIDIA GTX 650Ti - identical results in all cases to above. HP Laptop. This has two video cards: AMD Radeon HD7620G and 8670M. I am not sure which one is in use. LibrOffice 6.4.3.2 With OpenGL - works perfectly Without OpenGL - displays black rectangle LibreOffice master build (7.0) with Skia: works perfectly Hope this helps.

I guess this should be NEW per all the confirmations. Skia news is good.
We have here WMV video, GDI black screen, NVIDIA or AMD card, I update the title. I also do not reproduce with AMD Radeon HD 6450 in Windows, LO 6.2 and 7.1+. I guess Jeff and "l" should experiment with drivers and Hardware Acceleration.

Reopening, bug 128353 is about animgifs.
Since my initial report, I have upgraded both my Desktop PC and Laptop to newer (and more powerful) versions, and to the latest version of LibreOffice (7.1.0.3). While the bug is still present on the PC, videos run perfectly on the new laptop, so I don't know where the problem is. Both systems are running Windows 10 version 20H2. Differences are: PC is running Windows 10 Home, laptop is running Windows 10 Pro PC video card is Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Laptop video card in Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Using default settings in LO, so using Skia in both cases. Bottom line is that I don't have a clue why it works on one but not on the other.

Dear Jeff Goodenough, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
