1. Copy these instructions into a document. 2. Select the first line. Use Format > Character – Font color (and choose a color) 3. Make a new character style with same font color (F11, Character Styles, right-click on Default Style, new) 4. Apply the new character style to the second line. 5. Find & Replace (ctrl-H) - Format (use Font Effects tab – Font color - choose same color) 6. Find Next (ad libitum) Actual result: Only finds characters with direct color formatting Expected result: Finds all characters that have “font color” (whether from direct formatting or character style)
@Seth, WFM when I check the 'Including Styles' from the F&R dialog. And looking at a document saved to Flat ODF that looks correct. Direct Formatting (DF) gets an in line <style:text-properties fo:color="#fe007f"... While the new Character Style gets a defined style <style:style style:name="newCharStyleName" style:family="text"> with its own <style:text-properties fo:color="#fe007f"... with two mechanisims of applying font color, the dialog checkbox excluding or including search values found in the styles, seems correct approach.
Thanks Stuart. WFM too (after I used "including styles") Did not notice that "Paragraph Styles" changed to "Including Styles" (after "format" was set). (now I understand how to find my character styles). (as casual comment -- of course F&R dialog box is busy, but there is good space under "Attribute" and "Format" buttons and maybe "including styles" should be appearing there (greyed out, until something is set) (and not "hidden" under Paragraph Styles) (#learning from Heiko)
