Description galenyeo1 2020-02-12 10:12:15 UTC
Hi, I notice a lag when

a) typing sentences into a table (e.g. a 2 columned table).

b) highlighting text / sentences in a table

I have tested that this lag does not happen when typing into the document without a table.

I have also tested this in Apache Open Office (latest Mac download as of 10/2019) and it does not have this issue.

I have also applied a "low resolution" option in the Get Info dialogue box which doesn't make a big difference.

Can you please look into it. I have donated previously to Libre Office.

Thank you.

I can't confirm this with

Version: 6.3.4.2 (x64)
Build-ID: 60da17e045e08f1793c57c00ba83cdfce946d0aa
CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 10.0; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: win;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); UI-Sprache: de-DE
Calc: threaded

Perhaps Mac only?

Have tested this on 2 iMacs.

Currently running one on:

macOS High Sierra
Version 10.13.6
Imac Retina 4K, 2.5 inch, Late 2015
3.3 Ghz, Intel Core i7
16 GB RAM
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 1536 MB

The issue is the same on this Mac and other similarly configured model.

FWIW, I created a 2 column table in Writer, then type alternately long and short sentences in each cell, adding a new row as I reached the end of the preceding row. I didn't notice any particular slowdown, so I'm wondering whether it is the content that you are typing into the cell that is the issue, or whether there is some particular spellchecking going on (known to have caused slowdowns in the past) ?

We basically need more information, and preferably a test document that exhibits the described behaviour.

Thanks. I will attach a document. An accurate test can't be ascertained based on a few rows. I am checking if the problem occurs if the document consists of many rows, and in my document 3 columns. But I would have to replace the text of such a document and create one.

In any case, it was slower when compared to Apache Office, which was more responsive - that was the point.

Not sure if it has to do with files that are perhaps created in Microsoft Office, saved as .doc and .docx and then opened in Libreoffice. I have issues with docs that have been created in Google Docs as well, and then downloaded and edited in Libreoffice.

Will update again.
