Description Dr. Frank P Ferraro 2020-02-13 23:15:36 UTC
Description:
A suggestion for improvement of the hyperlink process which should be much simpler

Steps to Reproduce:
I think someone should review the instructions for placing hyperlinks and bookmarks into a document to link from one segment of a document to another and to set up a TOC or Index.

They are obscure at best.

The configuration options for hyperlinks and bookmarks could use some clarification as well. It took me forever to understand that you have to set up the proper styles and make sure the "headings" and "content" styles match then check to make sure the link looks the way you want it to when it is entered. Then if there are a number of levels to bookmark for a table or index you have to make sure to apply the "content" to the proper key strokes to be able to use them.

Actual Results:
The problem is in setting up everything needed to place a bookmark to be used in a TOC setting up bookmarks is not a big deal but if you want to set up a TOC the instructions are not clear.

Expected Results:
The Thing works but is hard to understand how to make it work even after checking the online community help.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The instructions should be step by step for bookmarks, hyperlinks and TOC setups.

Sorry, but enhancement request is not clear to me. I think you shouldn't use bookmarks to create a TOC. And as far as I know you also don't need bookmarks to create an alphabetical index. So neither the use case nor your working process is clear to me. So perhaps you cann add a clearer step by step description and perhaps add a sample document that makes it easier to understand.
