Description thorsten.brandau 2020-03-09 13:48:43 UTC
Hi
When I add a column in a Writer-Table, all columns are changed in size and the table overall size is kept constant.
However, according to the preferences, if I use setting "variable", the table overall size should change and the other columns should be kep in the same size.

The setting of Preferences/Writer/Table is not having any effect.
Expected behaviour:
"Fixed" should change the direct neibor cell, overall width stays constant
"Fixed, Proportional" should change all cells, overall width stays constant
"Variabl" inserting a column should not affect width of other cells, table size increases.

Reality: Always like "Fixed, proportional"

The Options▸Writer▸Table settings are actually under Keyboard Handling option group. And as such, they manage how Writer's keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Alt+arrow keys) operate on table row/column sizes.

Use table properties (its alignment) to control what you need.
Closing NOTABUG.
