Description MarjaE 2020-04-02 04:57:18 UTC
When in LibreOffice using File > Send > Create Master Document to try to split a book into its component chapters, the resulting .odt files will not open normally in NeoOffice. It seems these are not standard .odt files. They seem to open normally in OpenOffice.

Since the standard instructions to split a pdf involve File > Send > Create a Master Document, and tossing the .odm file, creating somewhat non-standard and incompatible .odt files is a bit of a problem. At the very least they should have a distinctive extension. Ideally there should also be some way to convert them to standard .odt.

The exported files have some permissions changes. (No entry for "Staff", "No Access" for "Everyone".) Opening the affected files, and saving new copies seems to solve the permissions changes, but doesn't always solve the file opening issues.

If I open each odt file *before* deleting the odm, and save a copy, and then delete the odm, they will open normally. I also have to save a copy of the header, since it only appears in the odm.

And then I import into Calibre and they don't open normally any more.

Marja, thank you for reporting the bug. It seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Marja, you've changed bug report back to UNCONFIRMED, so I assume, you're able to reproduce it with latest version of LO. Could you please add informations from Help => About LibreOffice? Thanks.

Also, the instructions to toss the .odm lose everything p to the 1st chapter break.

Please attach an example document which exhibits the behaviour after the File > Send action. You can anonymise the contents, if needed: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the document.
