Description Ulrich Windl 2020-04-21 23:00:04 UTC
It took me a while to find out the reason why I could not find the menu entry to add a caption when I checked to protect the image content (not position or size):
When the image content is protected by checking the corresponding mark, the menu entries to add a caption are grayed out.
As adding a caption is done be "reframing" the image (i.e.: add another frame that contains the image frame), I cannot see any sense in this behavior: The image (pixel data) is not changed when adding a caption anyway.

I confirm it with

Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 962b415edb47187737a5f05c4ff3f6724a19c564
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win;
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded

Steps to reproduce
1. Open document with an image
2. Open context menu of image => Option "Insert Caption" is available
3. Properties => Options => Protect context => O. K.
3. Open context menu of imag => Option "Insert Caption" has been removed

Same with menu entry Insert => Caption

Expected result
a) Option should be available, also image content is protected
or
b) Option is greyed out but visible in the context menu

Good example why hiding a menu item should be done only when the command never applies in the current context. So a clear yes to just disable the caption command.

Can't tell if the protection should/must include the frame/caption around objects. => needsDevAdvice
But in any case we should do the first.

Why did you downgrade the severity why it's still unclear whether this is a bug or not?

Wrong ticket? Didn't change anything here :-)
