Description J22Gim 2020-04-22 01:34:34 UTC
Description:
When using CTRL+Del to erase everything to the right of the cursor in Calc, at some point it switches to CTRl+Backspace instead.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Calc and place your cursor in any cell
2. write any text, preferably 2 or more sentences (the longer the easier is to see this bug)
3. now place the cursor at the end of the 1st sentence and try to delete all the rest (ie all characters to the right of the period). To do that quickly I use CRTL+Del.

Actual Results:
Calc starts erasing 'eating' word by word to the right of the cursor as intended. But if you keep presing CRTL+Del when no more words are available to the right to be deleted, Calc switches to the behavior of CTRL+Backspace, actually erasing words to the LEFT or the cursor

Expected Results:
It should do what it is told to do: erase words to the right of the cursor. If there are no more words to the right of the cursor, stop deleting.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
This happens when using CTRL+Del. Using only Del key works as expected (although of course it is much slower because it deletes characters one by one).

-----------

By the way, I discovered that it also happens when editing *comments*, both in Calc AND Writer... exactly the same unexpected annoying behavior.

Regarding the last sentence of the previous comment: I am not sure if they are separate things or not, just in case I filed a new bug (137459)

The problem is indeed present in Writer's "comments". Please see my comments below.

Indeed, you are right. I reproduced the same unexpected behaviour in Writer comments. That said I don't know if both behaviours have the same root cause.

Best regards.

@J22Gim,

I see that a fix has been committed for bug 137459, which may apply to this bug as well. Would you please download one of the nightly master builds and see if this bug has been fixed in Calc? You can download from:
