Description: I updated to this version today because when I printed a selection in a long Writer document, the page number was the last page of the document. I wanted to replicate this bug in the latest stable release. However, when I now try to print the selection, it wants to print half the document. I can duplicate this but not the bug from this morning. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a multi page document 2. Select a portion in the middle 3. Print 4. Click Print Selection Only in printer dialog box Actual Results: Half the document is ready to be printed, the half before the selection, instead of 1 page Expected Results: 1 page with my selected text should have printed Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: This worked in a previous version of LibreOffice. Version: 6.3.5.2 Build ID: dd0751754f11728f69b42ee2af66670068624673 CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.11.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx; Locale: en-US (en.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
Elisabeth, thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and re-test? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present.
I reset my user profile. These are the bugs I observe about Print Selection. 1. When I select something and print, then the selection is what will print. But if I click the Print Selection button in the print dialog box, it prints the first half of the document. 2. If I do print the selection without clicking the Print Selection button in the print dialog box, then the page number on the printout is the page number of the last page of the document, not the page number in the document of the selection.
This page: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile needs to put the information about how to find the user profile at the top of the page and not label it Expert Information as it is a basic part of checking a bug.
Also, I am married to a computer programmer and he is walking me through this bug reporting process because I could not complete your form without help because I don't know what half the stuff you need is. I have friends who won't use open source programs because getting help and reporting bugs is so daunting. Thank you for looking at this bug.

My husband was unable to reproduce on Linux with the latest stable version. We think this is a Mac specific problem. He can try with the beta (latest) version on a different Mac computer, but that will take some time. He can possibly do it later today.
[Automated Action] NeedInfo-To-Unconfirmed
I tried this on linux libreoffice 6.3.5.2 and I was unable to reproduce it. I was able to reproduce the incorrect page number problem on libreoffice 6.4.3 on mac os. I selected a paragraph on page 24, and the page number when printing was page 32 (the last page.).
I can confirm this. If I select text in Writer, select Print, and select print selection checbox it will be broken. However, there is a workaround: It's actually unecessary to select the "Print selection" chechbox, as that is already taken into account! Comment #8 actually refers to another bug, in that the page numbers are broken from this workaround - it shows the last page of the document The Print Dialog on a 13" Mac is also too high, even when I have the Dock on the right hand side Version: 6.4.3.5 Build ID: 4db9852e73d9e9d662fc8a2783bace79addf1805 CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.14.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
Problem 1. is Mac specific and problem 2. is bug 118378.
Dear Elizabeth C, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
