Libreoffice draw: put text box on page, fill in some text. Highlight the text, then select a style from the right hand side. Immediately draw crashes. Though when you get it back, the style has been applied.

No problem here. I selected Text A0 style.

Mike: can you try replicating the crash after launching from the terminal with this:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice

Reporter again responded via email (please don't do it!) rather than commenting here:
"Thanks for this suggestion. I tried it a couple of times and it worked perfectly and didn't crash."

Mike: can you try one more thing: launch from the command line with

libreoffice --safe-mode

(so without the SAL_ thing)

You will see a big dialog. Click continue in Safe mode. Then try to replicate the crash. The safe mode is a temporary state.

Another way to reach it is from LibreOffice's menu: Help - Restart in safe mode

Follow-up trying safe mode.

I tried opening in safe mode as suggested. The bug did not appear, and I could apply styles with no trouble.

Thanks for your help.  Mike

That is very encouraging. The safe mode dialog allows you to reset your user profile (at the bottom, Reset to factory settings, entire profile). You will lose any possible customisations like keyboard shortcuts, menu items, toolbar buttons... hopefully you don't have any :)

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/shared/01/profile_safe_mode.html

If everything works normally after that (in non-safe mode), we can close this report.

Reporter confirmed that resetting to factory settings made the issue go away. Let's close.
