Description: Hi! I usually use copy/cut and paste lines on Calc and I have this issue when trying to cut multiple unfollowed lines: it just won't work. Copying multiple unfollowed lines works, but cutting them won't, so I have to do the operation as many times as I have lines... That's quite annoying! Could you please consider adding this? What would be even better is a function (available from the right-clic menu) that cuts the lines and removes the empty lines (or cells?), so we don't have to cut, paste and then go back to where it was before cutting it just to remove the now empty line(s). What do you think? Thank you guys! Keep up the great work! Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select multiple unfollowed lines 2. Ctrl+x 3. Actual Results: Information message saying it's unavailable. Expected Results: Cut! Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: .
I can not reproduce your error. Try to reset user profile: Help - Restart in Safe Mode - Factory Resetting> check the 2 options there. If the problem persist please come back with info here...
This is not an error! This is normal! It's just that I'd like Calc to be able to do it! To reproduce it, just open a new sheet on Calc, select lines 1 and 3 by clicking on their headers and using ctrl so you don't select line 2. Once only lines 1 and 3 are selected, just press ctrl+x (to cut, right?). You should get a message saying this is not possible... You can also click right to open the menu and you'll see that cutting is not available. Am I clearer? Thank you!
Ok, it's clear now what you want to do, but try this. Select first row by hand from first cell until the last one with SHIFT and arrow. After that move to the third row, press CTRL and select the cells you need. So, you can have just this 2 lines selected.
Thanks for answering. Well, I don't have any problems selecting lines 1 and 3 without line 2 (it's actually even quicker by clicking on "1" + ctrl + "3" instead of ctrl + arrow). What I want to do is to cut them once they're both selected, but I can't as it's not allowed...
If you have an example of other software doing it, please write. Literally this would be WontFix but let's see. This looks rather advanced and would more fit to an extension. What do you think? LO and MSO, after copy of separate rows, paste as they were, with empty rows. MSO needs a 3rd party tool to paste contiguous rows, without empty rows. In LO it would be an extension.
LO and MSO both COPY and paste separate rows the exact same way. No problem about this. MSO, though, can CUT and paste separate rows, whereas LO can't. Thanks!
Eike, what's the blocker for cutting non-consecutive rows/columns? Probably that you don't know how many rows/columns are left out and paste therefore in case of just copy one after the other. But it could be the same for cut.

Please make a screencast. You're right... I was sure I had been doing it with MSO for years, but I asked my father to try this on MSO (which I don't use anymore) and he told me it couldn't. It can copy or hide separate rows, but it can't cut. Still, is there a reason why it can't cut? It would be a great function to add! Thanks!

Problem is that likewise for cutting one block, all references pointing to the cut-pasted multi-selections would need to be adjusted, requiring a new implementation that iterates over all cut selections for each formula (cell, conditional format, ...) and reference, instead of adjusting to one single block. While probably doable it's quite some work.
So let's keep the ticket alive and wait with the implementation until user interest match the effort. The common workflow with copy+delete (also macro-izable) is a good alternative until then.
