Description skyhook 2020-06-06 04:09:44 UTC
I wish Calc page orientation was sheet specifc.

Better, to have selectable scope in the dialogue like this sheet, which sheets, or all sheets. Not worried about multiple print areas within one sheet; a bridge too far in my opinion, only hoping for a per sheet solution. I believe current normal in Writer is page and scope specific page orientation, but Calc is only file specific.

Did my best search, but other Calc page orentation-related reports appear to address much more complex and detailed issues.

Thanks
Dale

Not sure what to add or augment if uncomfirmed.

To elaborate, I want page orientation to be unique and seletable for each sheet in a file. For example, I might want a chart on sheet one to print landscape, and data on sheet two to print portrait.

Is this already possible, and I'm ignorant of accomplishing that?

@skyhook : is this not possible using Page Styles for Calc ? I don't know that it is, I'm just asking.

For example, as described here:

https://www.ahuka.com/libreoffice-3-5-tutorials/libreoffice-calc/libreoffice-calc-page-styles-and-page-settings/

Doesn't that do what you are looking for ?

Now using Mac OS 6.4.5.2 with issue unchanged. Thanks for responding. Regarding "Page Styles", I'll say unrelated, that I'm aware of.

The ahuka link focuses on the default template, mentioning page orientation as a passing control, but at this time I'm asking only about manual sheet orientation, so please, let's ignore templates. I will rephrase assuming user error, not as a suggestion.

As a question:
How do I change page orientation for only a single sheet in a multi-sheet file?

As a statement:
When I toggle page orientation in a multi-sheet file, using <Format/Page…/Page/Orientation>, the orientation changes for all sheets, not just the sheet I'm viewing.

Ahuka opens by specifying all printing pages on a single sheet must have a shared orientation, and I accept that. I haven't read any suggestions that sheet-specific page orientation is actually possible, so I ended up here, framing it as a feature request.

It would be very cool if I could create multiple print areas, then apply a discrete page orientation to each area, negating the need for multi-sheet formulæ just to satisfy print restrictions. Others might prefer multi-sheet formulæ over dealing with application features, but I feel like a graphic feature might be better addressed graphically, so to speak.

My understanding of the LibreOffice "page" environment, including page orientaiton, irrespective of application module, is that it is dependent on the applied page style, whether default or user defined.

As as I understand it, this has always been the way that page definitions have been considered, all the way back to the original origins of StarOffice.

It therefore seems unlikely to me that your request for enhancement would ever see the light of day, as that would involve changing the document model, and have repercussions throughout the whole application.

I would love to be proven wrong, but am not very hopeful.

What I will do though is confirm your request for enhancement.

No, it may be a duplicate of bug 96397, but bug 50511 is not the same.
