Description Rohit Katre 2020-06-18 12:01:46 UTC
Description:
I have just installed the latest Libre Office 6.4.4.2 and have comes across several bugs already in less than a week. And horror or horrors you guys have designed such a solid bug eliminating platform as Bugzilla but have no provision here to upload my files wherein you can clearly see what and more importantly where have I found those bugs. Should you not be testing my findings on my own provided file? Wow! And under the severity head you just have Normal, Minor & Trivial. That's being boastful. How come not Horrible? Cause mine are indeed horrible. Why should it have taken this long for somebody/ anybody to report it to you folks? These horrible bugs should have been fixed in version 1.
IMPORTANT SAYS : In case you need to attach to the bug, Please use the "Add an Attachment" link once the bug is filled. But where is "Add an attachment" on the page.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. You write some text in a few paragraphs. Then select those paragraphs and click Numbering and the automatic numbers are added and the Left Tab and the Hanging Indent is also created. You then scroll up and bring this numbered para close to the Horizontal Ruler.
2. You insert an image. Then in Wrap make it Through so that it does not interfere with the inline text. And if you want to hit an Enter after the image so that you can write some more text the Enter is not accepted after the image.
3. I select a certain string of text and using the Word command Shift+F3 (which works with Writer as well) capitalize the text. That selected text does get capitalized.
4. 1. You write some text in a few paragraphs. Then select those paragraphs and click Numbering and the automatic numbers are added. But the numbering font is different.
5. Create a Page Border and give it a light shadow say Grey 4. Save the file and reopen it. You fix it and come back again.
6. You give this Page Border shadow a certain weight of say 0.8 and then you insert some images inside the page and give those images a shadow of say 0.4.

Actual Results:
1. The text below and the Tab & the Indent should match and be seen in line but that is not happening here at all.
2. The Enter should be after the image and I should be allowed to write more. Due to this I have had to fool Writer by writing everything first and then going up and adding the image at the relevant place after.
3. But horror of horrors the surround text get horribly affected. In the nearby text all sorts of weird case conversions happen.
4. Why does the Writer change the numbering font? And I cannot even bring it back to what it was. This is pathetic.
5. The shadow will have turned black. And once again the shadow will have turned black.
6. The page shadow too changes to 0.4. One cannot have different shadow sizes for different objects. Writer changes all shadows to the one last selected.

Expected Results:
1. The Ruler (with its Tabs and Indents) should align with the Text below.
2. An Enter should be allowed after the image.
3. Only the selected text should be Capitalized.
4. The font should not be changed at all.
5. The shadow color should not change at all.
6. Different objects should be allowed to have different shadow sizes.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I'm sure with such really silly ones I am likely to find several more. I'll write back when those are found.

Several remarks:
1) 1 bug per bugtracker please.
2) Focus on the essential, we don't need to know about your feelings about LO. If you don't like it, don't use it. There are other Office suites.
3) A sentence in full uppercase is equivalent to yelling.
4) Don't confirm your own bug

So calm down and try again.
This tracker may be recycled for 1 of the symptoms you described, just choose and create new bugtrackers for the others.

It really unfortunate to know that Julian Nabet thinks my bug reporting unimportant or worthless and even has the temerity to suggest that I should use other Office Suites. Julian, I am shocked that you found my genuine bugs bugging. So thanks Julian for discouraging me. All the best!

You have to learn how things are working. Julien has right.
On this website you report a bug, describe the problem and if you have another problem you report another bug. Because maybe one bug will be solved in 1 week, and one in 2 years. If you put everything toghether noone will understand what is important and what not, what is bug and what is preferences...

So, please do what Julien sais.

First re read what I put, I didn't indicate it was unimportant or worthless.

It's not temerity to indicate you can use other Office suites. I'm not paid by anyone to contribute to LO and it's not a lack of respect to tell this, nobody forces you to use LO.

Your bugs are not bugging, the way you submit this one is bugging.

What is discouraging here is to see people complaining like if they had paid a very pricy support.

Have in mind that LO bugtracker contains thousands of bugs to triage and perhaps all yours are already declared so if you want some relevant feedback, be a more respectful.

Hello Rohit,
Please report each single problem in different reports, providing steps to reproduce it, info from About LibreOffice, screenshots, files, etc etc.
Closing as RESOLVED INVALID for the reasons already explained in previous comments

Understood Bogdan & Julian. Point taken. Terribly sorry. My bad. I sincerely apologise Julian Nabet. I didn't know about the Bugzilla Ecosystem. I will diligently follow the principals laid down by Julian and contribute if I can. For now I shall create one tracker for each of my suggestions. Sorry again folks.
