OP responded with PM <snip> Sorry, I uninstalled 6.4.4.2 and installed 6.3.6.2 . 6.4.4.2 was just too unreliable. 6.3.6.2 started in same mode. It didn't crash without warning, did suffer inexplicable hangs. Just sats there, the message at the upper left corner of the screen said "not responding, " task manager showed it using CPU, no i/o. It cleared eventually, until the next time. For a while nearly every key stroke or click to reposition the cursor triggered a hang. I'm sorry that I can't tell you how I trigger the hangs or crashes, they don't seem to have much in common. I mean, I'm doing pretty basic word processing, basically correcting typos and changing my mind about local formatting in a book manuscript. I'm running Win 10, build 19041.329 experience pack 120.2202.130.0 Another 6.4.4.2 problem. I asked it to export the ms. to a pdf with watermark. The resulting pdf was defective, opened then crashed adobe reader. Export to pdf worked without the watermark. </snip>
