Description andis.lazdins 2020-06-20 08:49:32 UTC
Description:
It is not possible to set where X axis should cross secondary Y axis, in spite it is written in positioning dialogue "Cross other axis at" and certain value can be selected. In practice it applies to fist Y axis.
Such ability would improve usability and visual attractiveness of Charts in Libreoffice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open attached file and enter chart.
2.Select X axis and open properties.
3.Go to positioning tab and in "Cross other axis at" select "0" in value.
4. Push OK.

Actual Results:
X is axis is crossing primary Y axis at "0" and secondary axis in another place (not at "0").

Expected Results:
X axis should cross primary and secondary Y axis at "0".

Reproducible: Always

Not sure what the expected behaviour should be.

Good morning!

From one side the sentence in properties window "Cross other axis at" clearly states that all axis will be crossed at certain point, which is not happening now. From other side, if we are considering Libreoffice as a desirable product with competitive set of properties, more control over design of charts should be always welcome to have at least the same possibilities as Gnumeric have.

A new major release of LibreOffice is available since this bug was reported.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

The same happens with 7.1.x and 7.2.x releases. It is not possible to set that second y axis is crossing x axis at zero or any other certain point.

Issue confirmed on newer versions also.
Improvement for better control and user experience

I doubt ODF provides an option to pick the primary vs, secondary axis. It would be necessary for cross-application compatibility. And it should be possible to switch axis, so IMO not some urgent requirement.
