Description tpypta 2020-06-22 16:31:00 UTC
Description:
While in "Web view", resizing Writer program window doesn't keep its focus on the typing cursor, which results in a minor loss of worktime since one has to scroll (or use Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+F.... etc) to find the last line beign edited. This is especially true if the document contains +200 pages (in "Normal view").

*Usage case description: on the left part of the desktop a PDF with proofing guidelines is opened, which contains valuable know-how about the (academic) paper beign written in LO Writer, which is placed in the right part of the desktop. LO Writer is in "Web view" to declutter everything like page background, formatiing, margins... etc, in order to maximize the usable-for-editing space on the screen.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a large document in "Web view" and start editing somewhere in the middle.
2.Resize LO Writer window enough to fit another program window on screen (p.ex a PDF viewer)

Actual Results:
LO Writer (in "Web view") is somewhere else in the document, not on the last edited line / not focused on the text cursor.

Expected Results:
Keep the window focused on the last edited line / on the text cursor

Reproducible: Always

Thank you for reporting the bug. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

Yes, the bug is still present in the "Fresh" branch / 6.4.4 (I've tested it with a parallel install using the Separate Install GUI). Writer "Web view" in both .odt / .docx files loses its focus on the text when LO window is resized.

I think we should call this an enhancement. I repro.

Holding the Writer edit cursor position focus when moving between Normal view and Web view would really be helpful.

But kind of expect that calculating the position in document reliably between the two modes requires new dev effort.

Cannot confirm, the cursor remains at the position in the document.
