MS Word support RnCn style references in table formulas. LibreOffice Writer doesn't.

I tried putting R1C1 in brackets, like this:
<R1C1>

But it still didn't work.

I've been looking into this issue by some degree. I did notice that <RnCn>, while absolute, doesn't work in LibreOffice, but RnCn does get a random number, as if it assumes A1 style. The formula does work with A1 or B2 and whatnot.
