Description:
Dear Libre Office,

I am having a text formatting issue that seems to be in Libre Office 6.4.4.2 and wondering if you could help.

When LO is reading a Word document, square characters are appearing where a line break should be. However, this is inconsistent, as the squares only appear sometimes, not at all line breaks. And it's only appearing when the doc is opened again in Word after being saved in LO. The only clue we have is that it is only happening when letters have been written vertically on the page (a vertical poem, see below) in a Word doc.

Please let me know if you have any idea what is happening! I'd be happy to send you the documents in question.

Sincerely,
Rose Michel
New Zealand

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Word doc is opened in LO
2.LO does not see any strange square marks and the doc is saved in LO.
3.When the doc is opened again in Word, square marks appear (which seem to be invisible characters for line breaks - but it's inconsistent, not all line breaks are indicated by squares

Actual Results:
Square formatting marks appear

Expected Results:
Formatting marks should not appear

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This issue is only happening with vertical texts centred on the page:

Bugzilla is bug reporting system with it's rules, you made a wrong report.
Rule of thumb is search existing bugs before reporting.
Of not found, you need to attach source "doc". If DOC or DOCX it must come from MSO.
Also useful is screenshot with comparison MSO/doc, LO/open, LO/reopen, MSO/reopen, best in a single screenshot so it's clear.

No response for source document. If you don't find this bug already reported and attach document, set Unconfirmed.
