Description michael 2020-07-11 09:02:06 UTC
Hello,
trying to get a personal salutation inside Mail Merge seems only possible when the file is printed or saved to one file.

When it should be saved into single files the hidden paragraphs are ignored and all of the lines are inside the file.

For example the personal salutation inside a letter is not possible here.

Also tested on macx with Libreoffice 6.4.4.2

Thank you for your help
michael

...seems to be only the case for saving the files.
Printing the files is working with hidden paragraphs.

All types of files seem to concerned.

Bugzilla is not help page.
Is this a duplicate of bug 54703?
Did you search existing bugs?
Only if not duplicate, you need to write exact simple repro steps.
Use LO in-built database.

Just checking with the original reporter as I have a similar issue.

Are you using the Writer UI to do the mail merge, or are you using a Basic macro or some other automation?

Have you also checked in your options Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > View that you do not have "Hidden text" and "Hidden paragraphs" ticked?

You can view/hide the hidden paragraphs in the master document by toggling Ctrl-F9 if you have these options OFF.

I have the same issue, the bug is not solved.

This bug was in Needinfo status without reply, so it was automatically closed.
It cannot be set Reopened because that's for fix which doesn't work.
See https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_status.

Here I set Needinfo again, because we need:
- sample document,
- confirmation that all was checked from Comment 3,
- explanation why this is not a duplicate of bug 54703.
