writer default

when I select 2 columns in writer the default spacing is 0 cm, which mean there is NO space between 2 columns. So if you write the text between column 1 and 2 will have any space.

I think it's 0 cm spacing is no good default for columns.

In MS word the default is 1,25 cm which is a better default spacing than 0 cm.

If you click on the preset options for 1 to 5 columns the default is applied with 0.5cm spacing and autowidth for columns. If you click the spinner you get the zero width gap. Does it make sense for you?

That's fine, so it's only when you click in the Page sidebar -> Styles -> Column -> 2 (or more) the setting is wrong cause than the spacing is 0 cm.

True, the sidebar is a mess.

(Who suggested a sidebar tab for page style? I mean changing the page style workflow is completely the opposite to this UI. IIRC it was a GSoC project...)

+1 to the mess part.

Don't know, where I can find preset options, but I get spacing 0 cm
a) using sidebar
b) Format -> Page Style -> Columns
c) Page columns icon

Version: 7.4.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 3c58a8f3a960df8bc8fd77b461821e42c061c5f0
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL
So for me default spacing seems to be 0cm.
