Description Rebecca Doremus 2020-09-09 18:37:54 UTC
Description:
While using Libre Writer, after completing a document I would save it as a program formatted document and then close the document. Every time I try to close it, I get the spinning wheel (thinking), and then Not Responding, then locks up ... then eventually closes. This is only since installing the latest version. I have also tried saving the files as Word .doc and have the same problem when I close the document. If I leave the program open and just start another document (lets say I build up five) then after saving the last document I go to Window, Close Window. This works for the first four but on the last remaining document I still get the Not Responding drag/lock. I have not tried any other components of the newest software.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a document from a template
2.Save the document to either odt or doc
3.Close the program/document

Actual Results:
The program drags ... and eventually responds after a few minutes. It locks the program and produces a Not Responding message.

Expected Results:
Closed the open window and/or program depending on the choice made.

Note: after opening in Safe Mode I went through the whole process and everything was fine. I then went back to using the program by opening it and creating a document using a template as listed above without a problem. BUT if I just open my folder on my computer and choose the Template that I have made in the past and open it. Then save with a new name and doc format, I can type the letter, save and close the letter. BUT when I go to close the Template (which is still open in the background) the program still locks up. This is the steps I typically follow as I do typing for many clients and so I keep the templates for each client in a folder on a flash drive. Maybe this is the real problem but I am unsure. It worked fine in previous versions of the program.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Thanks for reporting. Maybe this helps (no warranty's)
Tools -> Options -> View -> Check Force Skia Software rendering.. Apply or OK and restart..

Is they issue still present?
Comment 2 Rebecca Doremus 2020-09-09 20:44:48 UTC
This option was already checked - and the problem still exists if opening a file from the template in my folder and then saving as a document when finished.

Thanks for the reply though.

So it looks like a corrupted user profile. So could you please reset your
 Libreoffice profile (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and re-test?
