OS Slackware 14.2

Problem: attempting to open the Base application from the entry window terminates LibreOffice. Same via File | New | Database

Restarting LibreOffice in safe mode produces the same result.

This seems particular to Slackware, unless a required package is missing ?
As I'm not familiar with Slack, can't help here.

This discussion :

https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/libreoffice-5-0-4-crashes-on-latest-current-20160211-a-4175572225/

relates a similar crash, which was linked to conflict between library versions installed on the system (e.g. harfbuzz) and the required version of the same library necessary for LibreOffice, which was different from that installed.

Sounds like you have a version dependency issue, which would be unrelated to LibreOffice per se.

Please check for version conflicts and report back.
Comment 4 David Robley 2020-09-16 09:54:50 UTC
Thank you for your quick response and link.

harfbuzz library is quite old on my slackware; I've installed Alienbob's LO package but the problem with Base persists (although it did solve a problem with Draw)

I can live without Base until hopefully the next release of Slackware allows me to upgrade needed libraries. I've changed the status to resolved / notourbug accordingly.

Changed to notabug
