Description: All of a sudden when I started a new document in Writer, it was no longer possible to enter an image into the document. There is the familiar square, but the image does not show, no matter how long you wait. This concerns images in jpg, png etc. Now, having said that it does still work when I open a new Drawing. This is strange, or has something disappeared? Should I reinstall LibreOffice and start from scratch? Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open a new document in LibreOffice Writer 2.Insert image(any image in jpg, png etc.) 3.Image square appears but does not materialize into the known image. Actual Results: The same happens over and over again Expected Results: After the square appears, it should change into the inserted image Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Version: 5.1.6.2 Built ID:1.5.1.6~rc2-0Ubuntu1~xenial10 CPU ThreadsL 2; OS Version: Linux 4.15; UI Render: default; LocaleL nl-NL(en_IE.UTF-8); Calc: group When Open GL is enabled LibreOffice just crashes.
And you did not inadvertently unset View -> [ ] Images and Charts?
Office crashed again and I couldn't get it started as it kept asking to restore the last document before the crash. As soon as I clicked yes(there was no other way to avoid it) it crashed again. Restarted same question, same crash. I gave up.So I removed Libre Office completely, rebooted and re-installed LibreOffice. It works again now. Thanks for your help anyway and no I did not unset View-Images. It just happened don't know why.

Setting to resolved, although I'm not sure whether to set as fixed or WFM.
