Description bugs 2020-11-03 10:15:46 UTC
Description:
Even after ensuring all graphical settings to run LibreOffice with the iGPU, soffice.bin runs on the dGPU instead except in Safe Mode. As a result, this could drain the battery very quickly. Since soffice.bin is a file (not an .exe) there is no option to change its graphical settings. I have also noticed it happening in the latest fresh version of LibreOfice.

OS: Windows 10 Version 10.0.18363
AMD 4800H and Radeon iGPU
RTX 2060 Mobile

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open nVidia Control Panel > Desktop > Check Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area
2. Open LibreOffice or its other programs and monitor the icon.

Actual Results:
Soffice.bin is listed in dGPU activity.

Expected Results:
dGPU should be inactive. LibreOffice/soffice.bin should be running in the iGPU.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
There is no dGPU activity in Safe Mode, so I'm assuming soffice.bin runs on the iGPU in Safe Mode or just doesn't run at all.

So this looks like NOTOURBUG, that some third-party configuration only limits itself to executables with .exe extension? Or maybe you need to type the file with extension manually in some dialog provided by that tool?

Nvidia Control panel seems to just monitor things not forces LO to use dgpu.

Perhaps you may give a try to brand new 7.0.3 with a brand new LO profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows)
since Nvidia seems to be blacklisted with https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=f8d6eb6f171dbcf7e3aa4afa0da32bd504f473dc

In the Windows 10 graphics settings I set all LibreOffice apps to use the iGPU. No changes at fresh version.

Oh well, I'm not too bothered by it. I'll just start in Safe Mode every time. Just thought it to be an odd bug.
