As your package version (7.0.3-0ubuntu0.18.04.1) indicates, you are using LibreOffice packages provided by Ubuntu package maintainer, instead of packages provided by The Document Foundation (available at https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/, don't support simple APT upgrades, though).

And according to the error message, the problem is in packaging (pre-installation script is something specific to Debian/Ubuntu system and packages).

So this Bugzilla is not the right place to report such bugs. Please report to Ubuntu instead, likely at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ .

On closer inspection, maybe not the *official* Ubuntu packages, either:

Likely it's from this PPA instead of the official Ubuntu repo.

If that's the case, contact the PPA owner instead of reporting to Launchpad. Either way, NOTOURBUG.
Comment 3 Doug 2020-11-13 19:50:35 UTC
Hi,

Sorry about that. I am using the official LibreOffice fresh ppa. I guess LibreOffice doesn't take care of it's own ppa, again I am sorry.

What makes you think it's the *official* LibreOffice PPA?

Assuming my guess in comment #2 is correct, their webpage https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice clearly states:

This is the Ubuntu packaging team, this is _not_ the LibreOffice project.

This is The Document Foundation's (i.e. the LibreOffice project) bugzilla. You are filing bugs at the wrong place. If you use their packages, go to their bug tracker to file bugs. Or look up that package's maintainer email address (from your package manager, or just "dpkg -i" the broken package) and send an email. There is nobody here that can help you (at least, I'm not aware of any Ubuntu packagers that frequent this bugzilla).
Comment 5 Rene Engelhard 2020-11-26 19:36:58 UTC
yes, this is true, not a bug here. (and fixed in current packages anyway)
Comment 6 Rene Engelhard 2020-11-26 20:05:07 UTC
(for the record: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=972043. Ubuntu should have synced it by now.)

root cause: the workaround for https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136526 (the LO people don't care whether their own program and config actually works, so one needs to add a symlink...) and dpkg refuses to update then.
fix: as said in above bug.

Hi,

I am sorry for being bad. Thank you all for your help. I had to end up redoing my Computer because more things started messing up.
