Description Gio 2020-11-27 06:33:21 UTC
Description:
When applying an AUTOFILTER, sometimes it does not allow sorting with a warning saying "Ranges containing merged cells can only be sorted without formats" even when no merged cell is present in the range.
Sorting manually via the STANDARD FILTER works on the very same range.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Apply the AUTOFILTER to a range of cells.
2. Select "Sort Ascending" or "Sort Descending"

Actual Results:
A pop up message may appear forbidding the sorting, saying that some cells are merged and have formates, hence they can't be sorted.

Expected Results:
As no merged cells are present in the range, it should sort as the STANDARD FILTER does.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Is it possible to add an example file which demonstrates the described issue
Comment 2 Gio 2020-11-27 07:33:10 UTC
Thank You for promptly acting on this.

I had a file in which this was happening but I just made it working (albeit not sure that I have done as I have not merged/split any cell).

I will keep an eye if it happens again in this or another file and send immediately.

On a side note, this not the case here but in general, why is it not possible to sort merged cells with formats?

Thank You.

Hi Gio,
Did you reproduce this issue again? otherwise, it should be closed as RESOLVED WORKSFORME
Comment 8 Gio 2021-02-26 12:43:21 UTC
Hi,

I think I manged to find out what was happening.

There are merged cells below the table but when I used the autofilter it took those cells into the table itself. When I made sure this would not happen again, the issue of which report here disappear.

Thank YOU.
